Rabeprazole is chemically described as 2-(((4-(3-Methoxypropoxy)-3-methylpyridin-2-yl)methyl)sulfinyl)benzo[d]imidazol-1-ide.

It's molecular formula and molecular weight is C18H21N3O3S & 359.43 g/mol respectively.

Rabeprazole is approved for medicinal use and commonly prescribed medication in United States of America. It is used in treatment of Gastro esophageal reflux disease (acid reflux), peptic ulcer like diseases. It belongs to a class of drugs known as proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). It is commonly prescribed to reduce the amount of acid produced by stomach. It is available as Aciphex.

Rabeprazole is primarily used to treat conditions related to stomach acid which includes Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), Erosive Esophagitis, Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome & Peptic Ulcers.

Mechanism:-

Rabeprazole works by inhibiting proton pump in stomach lining, which is responsible for acid production. By reducing acid production, it helps relieve symptoms & promote the healing of related conditions.

Common Side Effects:- includes Constipation, Nausea, Vomiting, weakness.
