Paclitaxel is chemically described as (2aR,4S,4aS,6R,9S,11S,12S,12aR,12bS)-9-(((2R,3S)-3-benzamido-2-hydroxy-3-phenylpropanoyl)oxy)-12-(benzoyloxy)-4,11-dihydroxy-4a,8,13,13-tetramethyl-5-oxo-3,4,4a,5,6,9,10,11,12,12a-decahydro-1H-7,11-methanocyclodeca[3,4]benzo[1,2-b]oxete-6,12b(2aH)-diyl diacetate. It's molecular formula and molecular weight is C47H51NO14, 853.91 g/mol respectively.
Paclitaxel is approved by UK and United States in 1993. It is on the World Health Organizations list for Essential Medicines. It is a ‘Chemotherapy medication’ used to treat various cancers includes Breast cancer, Lung cancer, Pancreatic cancer, Ovarian cancer, Cervical and pancreatic cancer.

Paclitaxel injection is used periodically to treat cancer of head neck and oesophagus, as well to treat Cervix. Along with this, Injections of paclitaxel is also used to treat bladder.
Paclitaxel is a 'Chemotherapeutic agent' and it is available as Taxol. Alternative form of Paclitaxel is Albumin-bound paclitaxel, which is available as Abraxane.
Mechanism:-
It is anti-microtubule agent. The action of tubulin dimers and stabilizing current microtubules while inhibiting their disassembly due to it’s stability of microtubules, late G2 phase stops and cell replication becomes inhibited. Distort mitotic spindles causes the chromosomes to break caused by paclitaxel.
Common side effects includes Muscle pains, Hair loss, Diarrhoea, Allergic reactions, Numbness, Vomiting.
